This week I learned a
lot of things. Also, we review about evaluating web pages; the teacher
gave us a useful page in which we can find a lot of information.
In my opinion, I think that this web page is very useful because it provides some steps with which we can evaluate web sites and with its help we can identify if the information that we find on the web is reliable or not. First, we must know how is the type of the information that we need, because on the net we can find three types of categories such as: Advocacy that provides a wealth of information, Commercial that provides short articles and other useful information, and Reference or information sites that offers a full range of information on a topic. Second, we must know all possible information about the author or the institution that published the web page. It is important for the page’s credibility. Third, we need to pay attention in the content of the page (biased or balanced) that depends in the type of information that we need; in the coverage, that provides how well the site covers the topic, and in the currency that indicates the time-sensitive of the page. Finally, to know what people think about the page is a good way to recognize if the site is reliable or not. In conclusion, to obtain good and credible information on the net, we have to follow these steps to evaluate web pages.
Finally in this class, we took a practice quiz about evaluating webpage that I think it will help us in the real quiz.

Carolina,
ReplyDeleteIt is good to see that you have your own blog. I have some suggestions:
your entries should show good reflection, not just simple general things.
you should add more information and cite all the sources you have used during the week.
you should investigate and add information about the topics we study in class.
look at the rubric to evaluate blogs, so you know exactly what I expect you to do.
look at the examples of learning reflective blogs from our virtual classroom.
That's all for now and Happy Blogging!
